These allegations pertained to two (2) incidents within a period of four (4) days that occurred in Johannesburg and Madagascar, respectively. A disciplinary hearing was held and the presiding chairman held that Mr. Mafani was not guilty of contravening the unwritten code as he had no knowledge of the existence of such a code as the club’s witnesses failed to establish or prove that he had knowledge of the existence of the club’s unwritten code of conduct.
The club subsequently instituted a disciplinary hearing into these allegations and soon thereafter Mr. Mafani submitted his resignation and management acknowledge receipt thereof in lieu of the outcome of the disciplinary hearing.
However, given the deteriorating relationship that is characterised by unauthorised press reports on his resignation the club deem it necessary to terminate Mr. Mafani’s employment with immediate effect.
The club’s management, supporters and corporate sponsors are grateful for the period we shared with Mr. Mafani and take this opportunity to wish him well in his future endeavours.
