Kick-Off: 15:30
All roads will lead to the FNB Stadium on Saturday when Kaizer Chiefs host Orlando Pirates in a much-anticipated Castle Premiership derby.
In every Soweto derby, there are always one-on-one clashes that need to be taken note of, and Saturday will be no different, definitely an occasion where the boys will be separated from the men.
And there is no doubt that a lot of attention will be focussed on the clash up front, where Orlando Pirates striker Lesley Manyathela will go head to head with Chiefs striker, Kabamba Musasa, who hails from the DRC.
And indeed, it will be a clash of contrasting styles between two classy players, who over this season have taken the Castle Premiership by storm with their goalscoring exploits.
On the one hand, Manyathela, who is known as Slow Poison uses his skill, silky touches, and deft body movements to get his point across, and he has done so 13 times in the Castle Premiership so far.
Musasa, on the other hand, is more brute force, using his speed, power, and pure strength to get into the box, and he has scored eight goals this season, and will be looking to add to that tally.
The duo were the ones that made the difference the last time the two sides met.
Musasa put Amakhosi 1-0 up in the 55th minute with his first league goal when he pounced onto a superb floater onto the penalty spot from Jabu Pule who danced rings around the Pirates defence on the left.
Pirates got their breakthrough when Benedict Vilakazi was brought down by Patrick Mabedi on the edge of the small box in the 86th minute.
This time Baloyi, who was tigerish as Chiefs' last line of defence, had no chance of the low drive from the penalty spot by Manyathela and Pirates held out to bring their record against Chiefs to 14 draws with 10 wins against the 23 victories enjoyed by Chiefs.
In, fact, Manyathela had a great chance to steal all three points for the Sea Robbers but wasted a great chance near the end of the match.
The miss was so blatant, that many people do not remember the goal that he scored, rather the way he missed that goal that would have given Pirates all three points.
At a pre-match press conference this week, Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung put things into perspective perfectly. "No matter what happens for the rest of the season, the country’s soccer fans will only be interested in who won the Soweto derby, that is why this match is so important to us," he said.
