Bobby Motaung, who only knew of Sundowns' intentions when asked for comment by Sowetan newspaper on Monday, said he told the Pretoria side that they would have to pay R30 million if they really want the talented star.
The daily newspaper told Motaung that Sundowns spokesperson Alex Shakoane was given a mandate by his club to start negotiating for the services of Pule.
Motaung has also revealed that the approach by Sundowns has shed some light as to who has been destabilising Pule.
"For us this is a great discovery as to who has been destabilising the team in the past and our supporters need to know this," said Motaung.
Pule made headlines towards the end of the last season following his disappearance with teammate Patrick Mbuthu on the eve of a crucial league match against Free State Stars after reports that the two had been on a drinking spree.
Amakhosi lost the match 1-0 then drew 0-0 with Golden Arrows in the absence of the two players. This ultimately cost Chiefs the league championship.
Meanwhile, Motaung also said that Amakhosi have voiced concerns with the SA Football Association (Safa) following the call-ups of players for national duty.
"We are busy preparing for next season," said Motaung. "We cannot afford a situation where our players are called to the national team and then left out without being used."
Two Chiefs players, Marco Mthembu and Doctor Khumalo, have been included in the Bafana squad to play against Malawi in a Cosafa Cup quarterfinal match next Saturday.
On the transfer front, Motaung said Bush Bucks have expressed an interest in Thato Mokoena and that an agreement could be reached soon. Bucks have also shown interest in Robson Muchichwa.
