A hattrick by David Radebe handed Kaizer Chiefs an emphatic 4-1 victory over St Eloi Lupopo in the first game of the Vodacom Soccer Challenge at Mmbatho Stadium on Sunday.

Chiefs opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Radebe

scored a gift goal after St Eloi goalkeeper Illunga Mwamba failed to hang on to teammate Ndoma Mbala's back header.

The ball fell to Radebe who had ample time to bang the ball into the empty net.

Mwaba redeemed himself somewhat in the 14th minute when he produced a wonderful save to deny Stanton Fredericks a goal.

At the other end of the park, Lupopo's best chance of the half

was foiled when midfielder Zola Matumone's shot was saved by Brian Baloyi.

Chiefs increased their lead in the 28th minute when Kabamba

Musasa headed home Jabu Pule's corner kick.

After the break Radebe scored his second goal when he beat Mwaba with a powerful shot from close range.

He secured his hattrick in the 87th minute when he beat a

hapless Mwamba after a solo run from midfield.

Lupopo grabbed a consolation goal two minutes later through

Ndoma Mbala.
