Kaizer Chiefs reserves reclaimed top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge league table in emphatic fashion by beating Marumo Gallants 3-0 at the Seshego stadium n Polokwane on Saturday.
Naledi Hlongwane gave Amakhosi a 1-0 halftime lead, with Siyabonga Gumede and Imaad Hendricks adding two further goals in the second period. Kabelo Nkgwesa won the man-of-the-match accolade.
Chiefs now have 45 points from their 19 games and sit one point ahead of second-placed Stellenbosch, who have played 20 matches.
This Saturday, 15 March, they host 13th place Polokwane City at FNB stadium in their next league assignment, kicking off at 10:00am.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Amakhosi youth development teams gave a good account of themselves when Mamelodi Sundowns visited the Village for a series of SAFA Gauteng Development League rubbers.
The U14s won comfortably by 3-1 and the U15s prevailed by 2-1. The Masandawana U19s were no match for their Amakhosi counterparts, who dismantled them to the tune of 5-0.
Unfortunately, the U17 were outclassed, losing 4-1 in the only blight on an otherwise dominant day.
This Saturday, 15 March, the boys are in action in the GDL Top 8 knockout competition at Marks Park in Johannesburg.
The U14s take on Sevens Academy, while the U15s face Tuks, and the U17s are drawn against the School of Excellence.
The semifinals and the final will be played on Sunday.
