In his squad announcement the coach has made sweeping changes to the team that drew 0-0 with Santos in midweek, in comes Cyril Nzama making his first start for Chiefs since picking up an injury at the end of April.
Nzama will be playing in a midfield role away from his favored position at the back; Cyril will be joined in midfield by Gert Schalkwyk making his first start ever for the Amakhosi since joining Chiefs at the start of the 2004-2005 season.
Thabo Mooki and Scara Ngobese complete the midfield with Ngobese being a surprise inclusion in today’s team after being dropped for the midweek encounter for being out of sorts as coach Ernst Middendorp described him.
Commenting on the inclusion of the central midfield pairing of Ngobese and Schalkwyk the coach said “I have said that the door to first team selection is open to any one who wants to walk through it, Gert and Scara have proven to me that they are ready to fit and I am happy to give them the chance to start and see what they can do”.
Out from the starting eleven go David Mathebula, Lucky Mzizi and John Shoes Moshoeu as the coach explained the changes are tactical as Chiefs will approach the game with an attack minded formation going for goals.
