Schalkwyk has been on top of his game recently scoring three goals in his last four games for Chiefs. As Chiefs physiotherapist David Milner explains the news is better than first thought “from the information we first received he looks much better now, we have monitored his situation over the past couple of days and have decided to give him a week off and he will resume full training next Wednesday.
While there has been good news for one of Chiefs midfielders - another on the injury list Thabo Mooki has begun light training work as he overcomes a calf injury he picked up in early January. “Thabo initially was not responding to treatment. In the last week he has done much better, and we have started him with light training and hope he can be back at full steam within a week” added Milner
Defender Fabian McCarthy was sent home from the training ground on Monday and Tuesday as he was running a high fever but returned to action on Wednesday. He will be fit for this weekend’s ABSA Cup game against City Pillars. Another defender not fortunate enough to play this weekend is Jimmy Tau. The Chiefs right back picked up his sixth yellow card of the season against Swallows which means that he will now miss the game against Pillars. Tau did serve a suspension earlier in the season when he picked up his third yellow card; Tau's suspension this weekend will be his second of the season.
