Well aware of the trickiness of a clash against Celtic on their home turf Tshabalala said, “it is always tough playing Celtic away, it’s not going to be easy, it never is against them especially away from home. Right now we are in a positive frame of mind after last weekend’s victory over Pirates and we are looking to carry on and hopefully pick up another win.”
In their last two league visits to face Celtic Chiefs have drawn one and lost one game, their last win against Celtic in an away game came in the 2008 – 2009 season; it was Shabba who grabbed the only goal of the game in a 1-0 Chiefs victory.
As he heads back to face Celtic he made clear as to the task that face the Amakhosi, “It is a challenge going there and playing them at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium. It is a compact venue so you can hear the fans and they try to put you off your game, we determined though to get out on the pitch and overcome these obstacle and do well.
We know what it’s like to play in Bloemfontein and mentally we prepared for it, our determination and desire to keep our top spot will ensure that we give it our best against Celtic.”
Shabba goes into the Celtic encounter having played a leading role during last weekend’s derby triumph over Orlando Pirates, having scored his first goal as Chiefs won 2-1, while it has been a boost for him his major concern is ensuring that the teams’ success comes first.
“I was really pleased to have scored, I always enjoy helping the team win, right at the moment we taking things slowly we are at the top of the league and we will aim to win against Celtic and stay there.
Beyond that we not really thinking of anything else, there is an international break coming up soon and while we have the momentum right now it is vital that we win both our games this one against Celtic and the following one against Golden Arrows. “
