The diminutive central midfielder, who has become a regular feature for Chiefs over the course of the season, has the opportunity to avenge that loss, and get redemption of sort when The Amakhosi are hosted by Sundowns in Tshwane on Sunday.
Sibeko has been enjoying his football of late and has pretty much been handed a free role in the centre of midfield by Ertugral, and will be looking very much towards leaving Loftus on Sunday with three points.
Getting back
Sibeko was bitterly disappointed after Chiefs loss to Sundowns a fortnight ago, not just because of the fact that it was a milestone match for him on a personal level, but because he had aims of finishing the season with a trophy.
“As a team we were upset to have been eliminated from the Nedbank Cup, not because the match had some historical significance for me, as it was my 100th game, though there was some added disappointment for me.”
Sibeko is very much looking forward to making up for that defeat with a win on Sunday.
“Sundowns are one of those teams that you enjoy playing against. The caliber of players they have means that they are always highly competitive. I am confident that, because of that defeat, we are very much looking forward to taking them on and we know we can get the better of them this time around”.
Good touch
The second half of the current season has seen a real turnaround in Sibeko’s fortunes as he has come into the zone over the past couple of months and has been a regular feature in the starting eleven, and has made a number of telling contributions to Chiefs' recent success.
Reflecting on the last couple of games Sibeko has been satisfied with his contributions as he said: “My aim was not to be just a squad member, but to be a real team player as well as a senior contributor to the team’s success. I feel that with time as the season has passed on I have been able to get more game time, which has meant that I have been able to help the team and scoring those two goals against Free State Stars a few matches ago was nice to get”.
