Making this statement from the club’s headquarters in Naturena, club PRO Putco Mafani said his club had been anticipating this positive turn out, “as soon as our result of the midweek league game against Wits University was made known, we knew we were destined for some record breaking sales for the derby and this positive response is an indication that our people are getting ready for bigger things, in fact 2010, here we come!” he said.
Mafani was full of praise for the two clubs’ supporters but was quick to point out that the ‘record sales’ milestone presents a new dimension in the challenges awaiting his club as the hosts of the Saturday event, “One thing for sure our safety and security systems have been jacked up but focus, discipline and commitment have to be doubled by all involved”. He said most of the tickets were sold during the Freedom Day public holiday as most people had enough time to line up in queues at the Computicket outlets.
Fans and football lovers who are without tickets are urged not to bother coming to the stadium because there will be no tickets sold at the stadium. Security personnel will be deployed all around the stadium to ensure no one gets close to the outer perimeters of the stadium without a ticket.
Gates open at 9am and entertainment will begin at 11H00 with the Amakhosi Male choir opening the entertainment session, followed by the exhibition of the motorbikes Ride Authority with music played by DJ Mike. The curtain raisers game featuring two of the biggest soccer names in South African football the “Doctor Khumalo Invitation” versus the “Ace Ntsoelengoe Invitation” will commence at 1pm and shortly before the kick-off, of the main game the Penguin parachutes will do their spectacular display while KABELO will get a fair share of the tight schedule to entertain the crowds with his kwaito beats.
The first 20 thousand soccer fans to arrive at the stadium will receive Vodacom gifts and during the half time break of the main game Vodacom will give away R30 000 in cash plus exciting hampers to lucky supporters chosen from the entries of the ‘Yebo makhosi sms’ competition.
Amakhosi are third on the Castle Premiership log with 49 points with a game in hand while their visitors Pirates are top of the log with 52 points. Chiefs have a chance to topple Pirates should they collect the maximum points at Soccer City on Saturday.
