Bafana Bafana midfielder Stanton Fredericks is set to leave Premiership champions Kaizer Chiefs next month for trials in Portugal with First Division side Beira Mar.

Fredericks could not be reached for comment on Tuesday night but his business manager, Steven Kapeluschnik, said the former Wits University player will undergo a two-week trial with Beira.

The player's contract with Chiefs expires at the end of the season and Fredericks has already indicated that he would like to further his football career abroad in the new season.

Another club from Belgium is also reported to be interested in the services of Fredericks, who joined Chiefs from neighbours Wits two seasons ago.

Fredericks played a major role in helping Amakhosi win their first Castle Premiership title in almost 12 years. Chiefs won the title after defeating Moroka Swallows 2-0 two weeks ago.

They will wrap-up their 2003/2004 soccer season against Wits at FNB Stadium on June 9. Wits need a win to finish third on the log and qualify for the Confederation Cup.
