Benni McCarthy and Shaun Bartlett were also named the squad for thsi match to be played in Potchefstroom on July 3.
Baxter named an expanded squad, which assembles on Friday, in anticipation of last-minute disappointments as a result of injuries and unexplained withdrawals. The squad will be whittled down to 18 days before the match.
McCarthy could finally make a return to national duty but there are a few question marks surrounding Germany-based midfielder Lance Davids. 1860 Munich are not prepared to release the player for longer than what Fifa requires.
Sweden-based striker Thando Mngomeni in not a hundred percent fit while leading striker Shaun Bartlett is expected to call the coach after pulling out of the match against Ghana to attend to his ill son.
The coach has invited three goalkeepers with Hans Vonk making a return after pulling out of the Ghana match with an injury. The other two keepers are Moeneeb Josephs from Ajax Cape Town and Supersport United’s Calvin Marlin. There is no place for Kaizer Chiefs’ Most Improved Player of the Season Rowen Fernandez, probably due to club commitments, as Amakhosi are currently preparing for the Vodacom Challenge.
