Stuart Baxter was full of praises for his charges despite being held to a goalless draw by Bloemfontein Celtic at Free State Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Glamour Boys created a couple of chances but a mixture of the lack of composure and bad surface let them down.
"We played well in the first half. I was quite pleased with the way the players approached the game.
It was a very difficult game. The surface made things difficult. It was difficult for us to play the kind of football we like to play," said Stuart Baxter speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the game.
"I thought both teams managed to play a good brand of football at times.
Celtic gave us problems and looked dangerous everytime they go forward. I never sat comfortable on my chair the whole game."
Baxter added that he was pleased with the draw; "taking all the factors into consideration I have to be pleased with the draw.
Last season we played a goalless draw with Celtic in the first round and came back strongly to win the league, hopefully it will be the case again," added Baxter.
