With five days to go before the SAA Supa 8 final between league champions Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United, the organizers of the competition have announced that the tickets for the clash are sold out.

This year’s final is scheduled for Saturday, October 2 at Absa Stadium in Durban the same venue in which Chiefs managed to edge out Moroka Swallows by a narrow score margin of 1-0 in the semifinal two weeks ago.

"The Premier Soccer League is proud to be part of a developing 'stadium culture' across our country, with 2010 lurking in the not so distant future, there is a need for us to not only develop football structures to tackle the challenge, but to also prepare an important part of the game - the fans," said PSL chief executive Trevor Phillips.

"This can only be achieved by sharing the experience of big games as much as possible. The PSL would like to thank their partner, SAA for being part of this programme and their commitment to the people’s game," Phillips added.

United director of football Stan Matthews said the Matsatsantsa were ready for the challenge and warned Chiefs that his charges would not be intimidated.

"We are extremely excited about this match. We won our last Cup Final against Kaizer Chiefs and we hope to repeat that victory on Saturday. As in all Cup Finals we expect it to be a tight and tense affair but we aim to give a big performance. We have been the top goal scorers in the League for three consecutive seasons and aim to show people why we are in the Final. The Supa 8 has been run brilliantly and we aim to conclude it on its highs," said Matthews.

Chiefs communications manager Putco Mafani said: "There are two important aspects about of this final involving Supersport United and ourselves, (i) SAA as a sponsor will fly out with a handsome 'return on investment' and spectators will be thrilled because of the quality of world class football to be anticipated, (ii) in as far as the hoodoo element about Supersport, that will end bitterly with rivers of tears because there is no room for all that in a cup final, at least I have been there many times to see this."

The winner of the match will take home the grand prize of R1.3 million while the runner-up will pocket R750 000. The two semifinalists, Swallows as well as Wits University, are guaranteed R430 000 each.
