The combative Zimbabwean international defender who made his first start of 2011 during last Friday evenings 1-0 loss to Ajax Cape Town is relishing the prospect of facing the Usuthu.
“Prior to facing Ajax I last played against Mpumalanga Aces on the 22nd December, so getting the chance to start a game after almost three weeks was really good for me” explained Sweswe.
He does feel that after playing against Ajax he can only improve on his performance from that outing and is looking towards helping Chiefs pick up a win, “I thought I had decent game against Ajax, we defended well overall and the goal we conceded did not come in open play.
I did many good things in that game and hopefully I will be able to take those positive points with me into the next game. There is a lot of competition in the team specifically for defensive places, I do hope that I can be in the starting line up on Wednesday.”
Sweswe furthermore insists that Chiefs are over the disappointment of the loss to Ajax and a win over Amazulu is what they have set their sights on, “we were down after the loss to Ajax because a win in that game could have done a lot for our title aspirations.
We are professionals and we have managed to pick ourselves up and the coach has told us to just look ahead and not back, that is what we doing. Right at the moment we need the three points from the Amazulu game and hopefully we can get them.
In a season where you set a target for yourself every time you lose it is a low point but you need to put them behind you as quickly as possible get back up and surge ahead.”
Sweswe has also backed his fellow countryman and the Amakhosi’s top scorer this season Knowledge Musona to find his first goal of 2011 soon, “I know that Knowledge will find the net soon and, his working hard in training as he has always done .He is a marked man and he is aware of that, he is a determined guy and as soon as he scores his first goal of 2011 which will be soon more will follow.”
