Commenting after being given the news by coach Ernst Middendorp on Monday a visibly surprised Tau said “ I never expected this,at least not now, maybe in a few months time not so soon”. Tau’s recent form for the Amakhosi prompted many calls for Stuart Baxter to call up the vastly experienced young defender.

Tau has said he attributes his call up to hard work and dedication when he said, “ you get out what you put in and I have over the last month put in a lot in to improving my game and this is the reward”.

Tau will be joined in the Bafana Bafana team to face the DR Congo on October 8 in Durban by club mate Arthur Zwane, Rowen Fernandez has also been called up to the team but could be ruled out if he does not recover in time from an ankle injury.
