When Lucky Baloyi entered the Free State Stadium pitch on Sunday to take on Bloemfontein Celtic, he had one thing in mind, which was to seize the opportunity with both hands.
Kaizerchiefs.com caught up with the Club’s last season’s Young Player of the Year.
“Foremost I would like to thank the Coach and his Technical Team for affording me the opportunity to play. I always wished to get a chance to show the coach my capabilities in a match situation and to do well for the Club.”
Baloyi played the full 90 minutes and didn’t show rustiness in his game as he contained Celtic in the middle of the park and was a threat always when in possession of the ball going forward.
The soft-spoken lad was full of praise for the supporters.
“I wish to thank the supporters for the way they support us home and away, the Amakhosi faithful continue to give us the edge over our opponents.
I wish to be playing regularly and help the team win some silverware this season.
The team used to win trophies when I was still at Development and now since I have been in the senior team we have not won any major trophy but the way we are progressing at the moment surely we stand a chance to win something this season.”
Even though Celtic won the Macufe Cup, Baloyi insisted; “I didn’t think of the game as a friendly, I played like it was a PSL fixture and wanted to impress”.
The 21-year-old former Ben Hlongoane High School learner acknowledged that the competition in the team is tough and one must work harder to convince the Coach going forward.
