Midfielder Matthew Rusike scored one of the four goals when Chiefs beat Liga Desportiva Muçulmana de Maputo (Mozambique) in the 1st Leg of 1st Round of the CAF Champions League.
Matthew Rusike expressed his feelings about his contribution in the first leg and looked ahead of the 2nd half cautiously optimistic.
"I feel very good about getting my first goal in a CAF match which is a massive boost for me and the team in terms of progressing to the next round," said Rusike.
"Every player has a job to do on the pitch and the coach has conditioned us well. The correct mental state is a massive part of what Kaizer Chiefs is and what we strive for as a collective. The bond in the Team is very strong which has helped since I arrived at this massive Club,"continued Rusike.
"The preparations have gone well so far. We treat every game the same and have to be switched on when approaching this game just like any other. We will show them respect and at the same time getting the job done," commented Rusike.
Chiefs go into the 2nd Leg encounter with a 4 - 0 lead;
"We cannot afford to go to Mozambique with a lazy attitude. Strange things have happened in football, you can lose a 4 goal lead. We need to stay true to ourselves, work hard and get the result," continued Rusike.
"The mood in the camp is high. There is a strong willingness to think collectively and over and above the culture of champions that has seen us move from strength to strength this season," said Rusike.
"I would just like to thank the supporters for their undying support, no matter where we play around the country. The supporters are part of Kaizer Chiefs and we look forward to bringing them joy," commented Rusike.
The game will be played on Saturday 8 March 2014, kickoff is at 18:00.
The venue is Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto National Stadium in Maputo and tickets will be sold on match day at the stadium at a price of 100 Metacals or R40.
