"I'm privileged to have enough time to settle," assures Komphela. "I'm fairly comfortable." Coach Steve Komphela was speaking at the Press Conference on Monday afternoon ahead of the mouthwatering MTN8 quarterfinal match featuring Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United.

"Preseason matches have given me a chance to get feedback to work on," confirms Komphela. "I don't have much stress. We are waiting for Wednesday night. "We have only top teams in the MTN8 and I'm facing my former employer and Mandla Ncikazi is a good coach. "We are preparing accordingly."

"A leopard doesn’t change its spot," enthuses Komphela about meeting his former employer. "We have to do our homework. I know them in and out. The beauty of it is that I'm the only new inclusion here. They have a challenge too; they have changed the Coach and players."

"The desire to win the MTN8 is there, we are hungry," confirms Komphela. "We want to defend the cup. The players have tasted victory before want to do it again."

Chiefs go into the top 8 as defending champions.

"We are all in it," says Komphela. "We have a strong squad of humble and dedicated players. We aren't focusing on negatives. We want to win the match."

Playing at FNB Stadium, Komphela refers, "We played at FNB this past weekend in a derby match. FNB is our home and we want to give expected performances when we play there."

Knowledge about his opposition, "Mandla is a scholar of the game," responds Komphela.

"His background of learning and teaching is giving him an edge in the planning of the match."

"I spoke to him and he didn't give away much. Our analysts will give us the required info," adds Komphela.

"His Chairman asked him about our encounter as former colleagues," continues Komphela. "He sent a message that he is gunning for us. We have to do our best but, we are ready."

"I operate in an environment that's unique. Our Chairman is unique and doesn't give any mandate on matches," refers Komphela.

"It is a responsibility as a Coach in this Club to know what the expectations are. The Chairman is calm, I have never worked in this kind of environment, and it is unique."

About Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane’s performances in the derby over the weekend, "Yeye is playing how he has been playing. He is the same player. The players are a bunch of athletes who want to achieve. He is not the old Yeye he is Yeye every day."

Injuries, "Tsepo had a bit of concern but not serious. We substituted him for precaution."

"He is a top professional. He is a committed and intelligent player. He gives his utmost best."

Goal scoring, "You can't live in the past. You'll be stuck there," responds Komphela.

"We have to encourage the players to score. We are looking to score more goals this season."

"It is true we have to score goals," concludes Komphela. "But, you can only score when you create goals."

The match starts at 19:30. Tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers at R80 (Grand stand -West side), R40 (Rest of the stands) and R10 for kids.
