Kaizer Motaung JNR has urged his teammates to put all the effort they put on winning the league championship on one last game, the Nedbank Cup Final on Saturday, 25 May 2013 against SuperSport United at Moses Mabhida Stadium (Kickoff 15:00).

Motaung JNR who collected his third league winners medal was speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Thursday afternoon; “The title has given us confidence as a team. We need to put all the effort that we have put on winning the league into this cup final on Saturday.

“We know what is expected of us wearing the gold and black going to this game. I have no doubt that in whatever team the Coach selects on the day will do the business. We have already seen that everyone that has been called in this season have been able to step to the plate and do the business and this is an attitude going into this game.

Motaung JNR a nominee for the PSL Player of the Year award in 2006/2007 season where he scored 12 goals for the Glamour Boys said it is an honour to be part of the group of players that have made history.

“I would have loved to play more games and contribute more to the success of the team this season. I still feel good to be part of the group that won the championship.

“The Club has set high standards for everyone to follow and it is now unbelievable feeling to have achieved this. I feel that Chiefs needs to win the league at least in every second season if not every season. We worked very hard this season and it is well deserved.

On winning the league three times with the Club, Motaung JNR commented and said; “It is an honour really, I remember as a youngster coming in against Wits (Bidvest Wits) and scoring in my debut and even though I had not played any games it felt really special to be part of the group.

The following season I had to compete with some of the best strikers and it was difficult to break through in the team but there is nothing bigger in football than being domestic champions. I am privileged to have achieved this three times in my career. I am humbled.

Motaung JNR paid a glowing tribute to Coach, Stuart Baxter for turning the fortunes of the Club around this season; “He is a great Coach for sure and everyone can see the manner he has honed us to be the team that we have been this season. He was working with far much smaller squad as compared to the squads back in 2003-2005 season.

“He was able to instill confidence and a good working ethic in the squad. Quality players were also brought in this season which created a healthy competition in the team.

Back to the Nedbank Cup Final Motaung JNR added; “Everyone knows though that our business is not done until Saturday afternoon. The Chairman (Mr. Kaizer Motaung) always reminds us of our responsibility as players who don the gold and black. We know that our fans will come in numbers from every corner of the country creating a wonderful atmosphere at Moses Mabhida Stadium.”

Kaizer Motaung JNR who is wearing the no. 7 jersey made popular by legendary Marks Maponyane (between 1981-1990) has made 146 appearances for the team since making his debut back in 2003/2004 season scoring 35 goals.
