Bernard Parker believes that conceding the early two goals made it difficult for the team as they were knocked out of Telkom Knockout by Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium on Friday evening.

Wits scored two goals in the 10th and 15th minute and went on to win the game by 3-2 despite Chiefs coming back strongly in the second half with goals from Bernard Parker and substitute, Lehlohonolo Majoro.

“The two goals we conceded early in the game worked against us but we never dropped our heads. We fought and gave our all but our best was not good enough,” said Parker speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday afternoon.

“When we pulled a goal back they scored from a break. Even then we never gave up we kept on pushing numbers forward. The willingness to fight was at its highest level. We wanted nothing less than a win but then again in football you win and lose some.

“When we stepped in the dressing room after the game everyone was quiet. No one spoke about the game, there was no finger pointing. We are all disappointed to be knocked out so early in the competition. I cannot put the feeling into words.

The Glamour Boys will shift focus to Absa Premiership this week when they travel to Maritzburg to honour a meeting with Maritzburg United.

Bernard Parker who is currently leading goalscoring charts in the Premier League said the game against Maritzburg United becomes more important following the defeat and also to ensure that the Club keeps its momentum in the league.

“It is a very important game. We have to put our disappointment of being knocked out in the cup competition aside and try and bounce back this week against an inform team in Maritzburg.

They have been playing well and it is no fluke that they are also among the top teams currently in the league. We will have to give our best and bring back maximum points to Naturena,” added Parker.
