Absa Premiership 2013/14 Season
Maritzburg United v Kaizer Chiefs
Harry Gwala Stadium
Tuesday 11 February 2014
19h30 kick-off
The Amakhosi will be travelling to Harry Gwala knowing very well that Maritzburg United will attempt to deny them a 10th successive Absa Premiership win when the teams meeton Tuesday, 11 February 2014, kick-off at 19h30.
In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and Chiefs have met in 15 league matches since 2005/06.The Amakhosi have six wins compared to the four of the Team of Choice, while five matches have been drawn.
“Playing Maritzburg (United) is always difficult; it is coming in the middle of a heavy schedule for us. The challenge we have got at the moment is refreshing, recuperating and selecting the players that will go in the field and give a good account of us, that is probably our main option,” said Baxter.
“It is going to be a challenge because after Moleko got red carded we faced a problem with our fullbacks but we will solve that in a few different ways. We can change the personnel or change the shape of the Team. We have already spoken about that and we have brought a fresh competitive Team to Maritzburg. We will do our best,” commentedBaxter.
“New signee Katlego Mphela has been training and working hard. I have received the physical trainers report and he feels better now. He looks sharper than I thought and full of enthusiasm. There is a possibility there, I don’t want to promise anything, and certainly he will not be starting any games for us, until he is 100% ready to play. I am happy with the way things are going,” continued Baxter.
“Rotation system is a mine field with all the coaches. You try to become a clever side, and then, suddenly you have to be throwing the players on in the last 20 minutes of the game in a panic trying to regain the game. I think the rotation is solving itself now that we have injuries at the moment; we have a natural rotation at the moment. It is never easy becauseMaritzburg will want to win the game as well,” said Baxter with high confidence.
“Morgan Gould got injured in the game against SuperSportUnited on the 5th of February and requires 10 days to heal. Tsepo Masilela is progressing as planned and has started with light training. Masilela had injured his adductor muscle when Chiefs played Moroka Swallows last month while KgotsoMoleko despite his suspension due to the red card he received during the SuperSport United game, he complained after the CAF game last Saturday. He is undergoing treatment for a hamstring strain,” reported the Team Physio, Dave Milner.
When Chiefs and Maritzburg United clashed earlier this season at FNB Stadium, the Amakhosi won 2-0, thanks to goals from Musona and Lebese.
The tickets for the game are selling like hot cakes for R60 atComputicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide, at 397 Victoria Road (Maritzburg United offices), Supersave and OK mini markets in Corlet Road and Edendale Road in Pietermaritzburg.
Gates for the game will be opened at 17:00.
