Head Coach Stuart Baxter believes that with the players from both teams, the fans should get their money’s worth in the upcoming MTN8 semifinal two legged fixtures.
Baxter was speaking after Kaizer Chiefs were drawn against their archrivals, Orlando Pirates, setting up a mouthwatering clash between the two giants.
The clash has already been touted as the ‘final before the final’ by the supporters from both teams.
Baxter told kaizerchiefs.com on Monday afternoon; “The Soweto Derby draws a lot of interest and due to the hype and the pressure that comes with it, at times it is not a spectacular affair.”
“The last Derby was full of action and again with the quality at display I am sure the fans will get what they deserve – spectacular football over two legs.”
“It does not really matter who you draw in these games as all the teams who have qualified for the semifinals have their own objectives. We were expecting to meet any of the three sides. Now that we are meeting Orlando Pirates it adds more spice for the supporters, the media and all the stakeholders involved.”
The Glamour Boys have had a good start this season winning their opening Absa Premiership clash against Aces while they sent University of Pretoria packing in the MTN8 but Baxter insisted there are no favourites in the Soweto Derby.
“Current form and past results do not count in the Soweto Derby; It will be an all new ball game,” added Baxter.
