Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena was buzzing on Saturday morning ahead of a mouth watering WAFA WAFA between the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at Soccer City Complex, FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday evening.

The Kaizer Chiefs Shop at the Village has become popular with the supporters who always come through before the matches to buy merchandise.

“When we opened at 09:00 there were already fans outside the Village waiting for the shop to be opened,” said the visibly delighted Supporters Retail Manager, Emmanuel Khumalo.

“The jersey is still popular among the fans. They however buy anything from scarves, arm socks, tracksuits and caps.

The branches also get an opportunity to process new registrations, “It is also an opportunity for the branches to meet with the likes of Cecil Motaung our Supporters Relations Manager.

“Most of them will also be here next week (Saturday, 17 September 2011) when we play Orlando Pirates again at FNB Stadium,” said Khumalo speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Saturday morning.

Cecil Motaung who was at the office early hours of the morning said it is important to welcome the supporters when they come to the Village.

“The fans leave everything they are supposed to do during weekends. I come to welcome them and give them the much needed love. I had to go around the hotels before coming to the office just to make sure everyone is okay. I also keep in touch with the branches that are driving towards Johannesburg.

Branches from Umthatha, East London, and Botshabelo are here while some of the branches like Site B, Site C, Harmanus are on their way. All provinces have confirmed that they will be present this evening. We expect to occupy more than 80% of the stadium…there will be no space for other team’s supporters” said Motaung.

The fans that came through to the Village also had an opportunity to meet and greet members of the squad not on the final 20 for the final.
