There is no looking back now – Lebese

George ‘What’s Up’ Lebese has told kaizerchiefs.com that there is no looking back after making his debut for Bafana Bafana against Ivory Coast over the weekend and earned his second cap against Zimbabwe on Tuesday evening.

The Mamelodi born midfielder joined his teammates on Thursday morning in preparation for the Absa Premiership encounter against Santos at Peter Mokaba on Saturday.

“It has always been a dream of mine to don the national team jersey and to make my debut against Ivory Coast was something special.

“I received a warm reception in the national team and everyone was really great. The senior guys made us feel at home and I really enjoyed myself. I was bit nervous at first being in a company of some of the best players in the country but adapted and started enjoying my stay with the national team.

“I learnt a lot during my time there. It is a different set up to Club level where you train to play week in week out. It is a kind of set up that I want to be part of going forward. I will continue working hard because there is no looking back now. I have to fight for the place first here at Chiefs and like it happened I might get another call up in the national team.

Lebese said that they were disappointed to lose against Zimbabwe on Tuesday; “We wanted to win the game but it was not to be. Knowledge (Musona) was at his best. He is a kind of player that when you make a mistake as a defender he punishes you and that is exactly what happened on Tuesday.

I believe though it was not all dark and gloom for us as we can take a lot of positives on that game. We need to build from that performance as a country and start winning again.
