This is going to be a cracker – Masilela

Tsepo Masilela has expressed a cautious optimism ahead of the Amakhosi’s trip to Tshwane where they are billed to face fellow table toppers, Mamelodi Sundowns on Thursday, 23rdJanuary 2014.

The game at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, will be the first in 2014 for the two Teams after the festive break.

Masilela warned against complacency, after Chiefs went into the festive break occupying the top spot in the PSL League Table.

“Finishing on top of the log before the break will amount tonothing if we don’t keep on winning and stay on top until the end of the league campaign. We have our eyes firmly focused on our next game, the league position will matter at the last kick of the ball in May,” commented Masilela.

“I had a good holiday during the break with my wife in Durban. The break is the thing of the past, we are back towork. Today we welcomed back the National Team players. We have a full complement of the Team after the return of the Bafana Bafana players. The game against Sundowns on Thursday will no doubt be a cracker of a game. I worked with Pitso (Mosimane) at Bafana Bafana and I know he is a good Coach. It is going to be a tough encounter to play against his Team,” said Masilela with a supreme confidence.

“We must settle early in the game as you know this will be after the break and it is an away game. Playing them in their own backyard will give them confidence. I think the game is going to be a good one for the supporters. If you look, for an instance, last season we started brightly and we occupied the top spot from first whistle to the end compared to this season where we started slow. Most of the Teams throw everything at us because we are the league and Cup Champs,” continued Masilela.

Masilela continued to tell kaizerchiefs.com that defending their double will not be easy against the teams that have improved from last season, “If you look at most of the teams this season, they have strengthened their teams, brought more players and revamped their Technical Teams. If you look atthe Clubs like BidVest Wits at the moment, they have a championship winning coach, Gavin Hunt, and they brought in some more players as well. Chiefs is a big Team and if youtake a look all over the world, as a big Team we enter every tournament with the aim of winning the trophy,” concluded Masilela.

Masilela has recently extended his current contract with the Club which was due to end in June 2014 and in his usual calm mode of expressing his feelings, he said, ”I am happy to continue my stay at the Club for a further 2 years and I look forward to happier days here at Chiefs.”

Kickoff for the match is at 19:30 and tickets are available atComputicket and Shoprite/Checkers nationwide.
