Kaizer Chiefs Coach, Stuart Baxter, took charge of his first training of the preseason on Monday morning, 1 July 2013. The Glamour Boys returned for preseason training on Saturday minus the players that took part in international games.
"It is still touch and go at this stage. We are looking at a few players that are here for trials as well as players from the Development. We gave the National team guys a few extra days to rest.
"We will be looking at various possibilities in terms of who is moving on and coming in. It is always important to refresh the squad but we hope that we don't lose any of our core team players. It is key to create a competitive environment and spirit in the squad."
"After missing out on the Championship title for eight years, we are looking at continuing where we left off as Double Champs and establish ourselves in the league going forward.
"Then, there is an added element of participating in the CAF Champions League this season, something that we need to plan very carefully in terms of balance. We don't want to find ourselves performing well in CAF and struggling in the PSL.
"At the end, you don't want to plan to reach for the stars and end up at the moon. We have to be very careful and precise with our plans. In the next week or two a clearer picture will emerge once all the players have returned and start to get their fitness level back. We are all excited at the prospects of the 2013/14 season."
