“Playing for your country is an honour for any player it is a great achievement to be called up to represent your national team.
My players are very professional and I know that they will not have a problem transforming their good club form into doing a good job for their national teams, in the last couple of weeks the guys have done very well for us and I hope they continue in that way.”
Vermezovic when quizzed about whether being a week without his internationals as three of them are with Zimbabwe team to face Liberia and four in the Bafana Bafana travelling party to Niamey to face Niger also on Sunday in 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Qualification games will affect his planning for the MTN8 Final he added.
“It will not be a problem for us because these guys are not in-active they are training with their national teams and they will play a competitive game so they will keep their rhythm. For us it is important that even though they are not with us they continue to work, and they are doing that which is good for us. Also we hope that they return to us without any injury's”
The players who are not on international duty were given some time off after Chiefs MTN8 Semi- Final second leg clash against Ajax Cape Town last Saturday evening and returned to training on Wednesday morning.
Of his reasoning for giving them three days off the Chiefs mentor explained, “we played six games in around three weeks so we were very active, we gave them time to relax and we picked up again with our normal training rhythm and intensity.”
With the international break Chiefs are inactive this weekend and Vermezovic is looking to keep his charges active in a match situation, “we hope to play a friendly game on Saturday and if not we will play a practice match between ourselves.”
Chiefs have four players Siphiwe Tshabalala, Itumeleng Khune, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Bernard Parker preparing for Bafana Bafana’s Group G clash against Niger, while Willard Katsande and Tinashe Nengomasha are in the Zimbawe team for their Crucial Group A encounter against Liberia.
