Mafikeng’s decision to host the first leg matches of the 2003 Vodacom Challenge, has brought great benefit to three Mafikeng District schools, courtesy of the Vodacom Foundation.

Lokaleng Primary, Jan Masibi Middle and Maano High are set to receive sporting equipment in the form of soccer jerseys and the financing of netball courts at the schools worth a total of R60 000.

Vodacom Foundation executive head Monde Mama said that the schools will be responsible for fund raising initiatives in order to ensure the maintenance of the new sporting facilities for the future, which will also be accessible to other schools in the District.

The Vodacom Foundation lends financial aid aimed at educating tertiary students from a technology point of view, as well as providing financial support to health and security-related projects,” said Mama.

“At the Vodacom Foundation, we are delighted to be able to contribute sports equipment towards the identified schools from under privileged areas in Mafikeng, to mark this great occasion of the 2003 Vodacom Challenge first leg matches being held in this wonderful town.”
