“We want the three points,” says an adamant Hendrick ‘Pule’ Ekstein ahead of Saturday’s Absa Premiership match at FNB Stadium against Baroka FC.
The skilful midfielder had a brilliant game against Cape Town City on Sunday, scoring the opening goal in the 2-0 victory. “That was nice,” comments the skilful midfielder with a smile on his face. “However, it’s important to point out that I don’t do all the work on my own, scoring a goal is a team effort.”
Ekstein missed the two preceding matches, but he was back with a bang in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal. “It was a good overall performance from the team,” he reflects modestly.
He adds: “I rooted for Kaizer Chiefs from a young age and that’s also why I want to make the supporters happy every time I enter the pitch.”
The fans were certainly more than satisfied with the attacking midfielder’s outstanding performance on Sunday, applauding his contribution.
Ekstein has been in great form since Ernst Middendorp took charge of Amakhosi.
“The arrival of coach Middendorp and his assistant, Shaun Bartlett, are fundamental in the improvement of my performances,” comments the 28-year-old. “They have given me a lot of confidence.”

“It means that Baroka will come out fighting,” Ekstein comments. “They play a very physical game and they can run.
“They will be highly motivated to play against us. But we will make them run for their money, as we are definitely eyeing victory.”
It promises to be a fascinating encounter come Saturday. So, don’t miss out!
