Kaizer Chiefs will be looking at defending the Gauteng Football Cup to be played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, 21 July 2013. Kaizer Chiefs as the defending Champions will take on the winner between Bloemfontein Celtic and Pretoria University at 15:00. Phunya Selesele and TUKS will lock horns at 10:00 in what the organisers have themed: Rise to the Challenge!

Kaizer Chiefs Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa has urged the supporters to start the season on a high by attending this weekend’s preseason games.

“The Club has returned from the pre-season camp and will be using this match as part of the preparations ahead of what promises to be a gruelling season. The players are working very hard and all have vowed to take the season ‘by the scruff of the neck’. Speaking to most of the players and the Technical Team since they returned from offseason, one gets a feeling that the Team is aware of the challenges that lie ahead.

We urge football followers to come in their numbers to paint Loftus gold and black to support football and watch the Glamour Boys in action for the first time after the offseason break. We started the Reclaiming the Glory season (2012-13 Season) by clinching the Gauteng Challenge Cup last season.

The organisers have lined up entertainment as part of the proceedings of the day, with Dr Malinga and Chomee billed to wow the crowd with their celebrated dance moves.”
