Siyabonga Nkosi believes that the win against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Nedbank Cup has put the Glamour Boys in a position to challenge for the double this season.
The Glamour Boys are currently no. 1 in the Absa Premiership standings and are in the Nedbank semi-finals. Nkosi who has been under lot of criticism from a section of supporters had very good games, first against Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium and also against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday.
"It always feels good to be on the pitch and to contribute to the success of the team. It is has never been about me as an individual rather about the badge. I put the team first," said Nkosi speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Saturday evening.
Speaking about Celtics, Nkosi known to many as "Doctor" after his childhood idol and his Assistant Coach Doc Khumalo, attributed the win to "sticking to basics".
"We did everything according to the plan and made things easy for ourselves by sticking to basics."
A crowd favourite when he played for Bloemfontein Celtic, Nkosi continued; "It is not easy to come down to Bloemfontein and win two games in a space of two weeks as we have done. This shows that the team is getting stronger as the season progresses.”
"We are turning our attention to the league program this week and there is no doubt that we have put ourselves in a good position to win the double."
"We will still need to take it one game at a time and continue to give performances as a team just as we demonstrated against Celtics," added Nkosi.
