Willard Katsande has revealed that they are taking the game against Bafana Bafana seriously and are using it as part of their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.
The Warriors who are seen by many as the sleeping giants of Southern African football failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa early this year and the World Cup in 2014, are looking to redeem themselves.
Willard Katsande affectionately known in football circles as ‘Cheese & Onion’ was recalled to the team for the game against Mozambique last weekend.
“It was good to be back in the national team. The welcoming from the supporters was warm. It is always special every time I put on the national team jersey. We played well and Mozambique was lucky to get a draw,” said Katsande.
“The game against South Africa is a serious game for us,” continued Katsande.
“We want to compete in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and the Technical Team is trying to assemble a team to take Zimbabwe football to the next level.”
“Bafana Bafana is coming from a good win over the weekend and it will be a good test for us. It is also a test we are ready for and prepared to give our best to make sure we put smiles on the Zimbabweans.”
Katsande revealed that he did have a chat with Bafana Bafana Captain, Itumeleng Khune; “I sent hima a tweet that we will ‘meet them on Tuesday’. He replied that they will be ‘ready for us’.”
“I am sure the feeling is the same with everyone in the team. They will come out to beat us but we are also motivated ahead of this game.”
“I am not worried about coming up against my teammates at Club level, I have a responsibility to give my all for my country on Tuesday evening,” added Katsande.
