Head Coach, Stuart Baxter has thrown the challenge back to the players to bounce back following the Glamour Boys' first defeat in the league against SuperSport United on Saturday, 31 August 2013, at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.
Chiefs who were in control in the first half, scored from the boot of Bernard Parker, but allowed the hosts to come back in the second half to score three goals.
Baxter commented speaking to kaizerchiefs.com; "We have to look at ourselves, work harder and that you cannot buy unfortunately.
The questions about whether we have a competitive squad this season has to be answered by the players we have at our disposal.
We did not 'go crazy' in the market as we had to respect the team that won us the double last season."
Talking about the game, Baxter reflected; "I was pleased with the way we played in the first half.
We spoke at halftime about the importance of being focused and disciplined, but I think after a while we switched off.
We allowed SuperSport to come back into the game.
Things just changed from the distance between defenders and the shape and SuperSport exploited that.
We have to look for solutions and address this very quickly. "
Baxter also backed his tactics playing three centre backs in Morgan Gould, Tefu Mashamaite and Eric Mathoho.
"We had two offensive wingbacks and we did very well offensively in the first half.
I do not remember our goalkeeper (Itumeleng Khune) making saves in the first half.
This is a tactic the players understand well and we used it successfully last season."
Baxter concluded; "We will have to go back to the drawing board and be ready for our next game. We have to bounce back no doubt about it."
