Stuart Baxter said that he is not reading too much into the result that saw Platinum Stars losing their five game winning streak following a loss against Chippa United on Tuesday.
The Glamour Boys continue with their journey to ‘Reclaim the Glory’ when they travel to Phokeng this weekend to meet Platinum Stars.
The Glamour Boys sent the Birds packing at Soccer City on Tuesday in a thrilling five goal thriller while Stars are still licking their wounds following a rare defeat in Cape Town at the hands of Chippa United.
“We are not reading too much into the result on Tuesday. We are preparing here for a very tough game against a top team. We need to be at our best on Saturday to bring maximum points to Naturena,” said Baxter speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after training at Kaizer Chiefs Village on Thursday.
“We were back in training this morning. I had an opportunity to talk to the players about the game against Moroka Swallows. We are of course addressing the lapses of concentration at the back. It is very important that we control our games. The game against Swallows became more of an end to end stuff and you do not want that to happen. We need to be in control.
Kaizer Chiefs will have to do without the services of industrious midfielder and a brace hero on Tuesday, Reneilwe Letsholonyane due to bookings while one or two players will have to face a late fitness test to determine their availability on Saturday.
“We are missing the services of Reneilwe (Letsholonyane) this coming weekend which is a blow for us. He is on a high following this performance on Tuesday. We will need to assess Tower (Eric Mathoho) who took a knock in the game.
“Besides that we are looking forward to the game against Platinum Stars. They are obviously back on their turf this weekend. We need to be consistent and keep the momentum going,” added Baxter.
Kick off for the game is at 15H30.
