“The league and the cup are different ball games,” says Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele ahead of the Telkom Knockout Last 16 clash against Platinum Stars at the Moruleng Stadium on Sunday afternoon (kick-off is at 15:00).
“I started my first game in the Chiefs jersey against Ajax Cape Town last week, scoring a goal as well,” reflects Manqele on the Absa Premiership match against on the Urban Warriors. “This boosted my confidence.”
“Last year, Platinum Stars beat us on penalties in the Telkom Knockout,” comments Manqele on Sunday’s cup game. “We are looking forward to the match. We want to win.”
“I adapted quickly to the team because I already knew most guys,” says Manqele, who recently joined the Amakhosi from Chippa United. “It is a dream come true to play for Chiefs.”
