“We don’t have information on Edu Sports like we normally have with PSL teams,” Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter admits ahead of Saturday’s Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash, while talking in front of a packed press conference at the PSL offices this afternoon.

“Preparation is such that we have to recover and recoup from the last game, we have to be 100 percent focused on the job,” continues Baxter. “When you play different tournaments week in week out - PSL, CAF Champions League, Nedbank Cup - you have to rotate the team to make sure that you retain the hunger.”

“In a Cup game like this, the experienced guys might take it easy, whereas the not so regular players may possess the hunger we need in such a game.

Edu Sports coach Johannes ‘Bricks’ Mudau is a former Kaizer Chiefs defender, he says: “It will be an honour to play against a top team and a top coach, I will gain experience.”

“We played with three centre-backs last Tuesday,” reflects Baxter, “because I looked at the way SuperSport United play up-front. We were able to put them under pressure for a good period.”

“I don’t cope well with losing. I try to be composed when we lose a match, but I am not a good loser.”

“A goalless draw away against Bloemfontein Celtic at this stage of the league was not a bad result. In CAF we should have been more clinical and taken our chances. That would have made life a bit easier.”

“While against SuperSport, we weren’t bad at all. We just needed to turn our dominance into goals. The graph is pointing upwards in our performances.”

“If we keep working hard I think we will turn the corner,” concludes Baxter. “We can play in different formations with the players we have. We just have to get the balance right.”

The Nedbank Cup Last 32 encounter against SAB League side Edu Sports will be played at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon (kick-off at 15:00).
