Amakhosi kept their composure despite trailing 1-2 with less than 10 minutes of play remaining. A well-taken corner by Arthur Zwane in referee's optional time connected to a thunderous header of Cyril Nzama for the equaliser.

The Glamour Boys kept their composure and went on to score all their penalties with goalkeeper Brian Baloyi denying Michael Manzini.

"I am very proud of my boys," said the coach. "We definitely deserved to win. Overall, I am very happy with the standard of play, which was of high quality and very entertaining."

Great composure paid dividends as Amakhosi persistently attacked the Sundowns goal in search of the equaliser. The Glamour Boys were finally rewarded in dying minutes of the game as Nzama rose to connect with a well-taken corner by the former Classic man, Zwane, to force the match into extra-time.

"The team is very tired now," said Ertugral. "I gave them a day off on Sunday but it's back to business on Monday. We have an important league match against Bush Bucks on Wednesday."

The coach said the team was both mentally and physically drained and that this would give him the opportunity to field some of the youngsters against Bucks.

"I have watched them at training and they look very hungry. They are ready but I have to be very cautious before throwing them in the deep end," said Ertugral.

Players like Thabiso Malatsi and Nhlanhla Mathebula could be given a run on Wednesday night as the majority of the players will be rested ahead of the crucial Mandela Cup clash against Ismailia of Egypt on Sunday.

Coach Ertugral was quick to caution the players about over celebration following the Top Eight victory. "We have not yet reached our destination," said the no-nonsense coach. "We have to stay focused as we have the league championship to worry about. And for now the focus is on Bucks and them Ismailia."

The coach gave a brief analysis of his players in the Top Eight final. Ertugral, however, did not focus on individuals but departments.

On the goalkeeping the coach said: "Brian was marvellous on the day. He is the best in the country and I still do not understand why the national coach overlooks him for Bafana Bafana."

The defence: "We had some concentration lapses here and there and that is why Sundowns scored those two goals. But overall the boys did exceptionally well."

Midfield: "They looked very impressive but I think we still have some work to do in that department before we reach perfection. But we are almost there, we only need to stay focused and patient."

Strikers: "We could have scored more than the two goals. Our main problem is that we tend to hurry and do things very quickly. That’s not the way to go. The boys have to stay calm and be patient when going forward."

"Finally I have to thank the supporters. They are the real force behind our success. I do read the messages on the chatboard and take note of some of their suggestions. Some of them are constructive but others are just not fair.

"It is always difficult when you view the situation from the other end. If the supporters have questions they must ask and we will provide the answers. But I think Kaizer Chiefs supporters are the best, with a better understanding of football than other supporters," said the Amakhosi coach.
