Amakhosi playmaker, Keagan Dolly, has consigned last weekend’s Carling Cup disappointment to history and is firmly focused on the Glamour Boys’ immediate priority, which is to beat Golden Arrows on Saturday.

“Obviously we are disappointed from our last game and not qualifying for the next round of the Carling Cup, but I think this is an important weekend for us. We have to come back and not dwell on the past. If we can win this weekend we can change our mindset and start winning.”

Chiefs will face Abafana Bes'thende in Hammarsdale, which lies between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, in their first match since the departure of coach Molefi Ntseki, and Dolly is determined to make a positive fresh start under newly installed interim coach, Cavin Johnson.

“It has been a tough week for the Club. For us as players, we have to do our job, which is to win, to get results for the Club, and for ourselves to build confidence for the rest of the season. I feel there is still a long way to go, and that’s why I think this weekend is very important because a win can give us momentum for the remainder of the season.”

Although Arrows have begun the season in good form and currently occupy second spot on the DStv Premiership standings, six points ahead of eighth-placed Chiefs, Dolly sees the match as a potential springboard from which to flourish for the rest of the campaign.

“They are confident at the moment. I’m sure they will be thinking we are down and out going into this game but I feel it is for us to show them that we are Kaizer Chiefs and prove to them what we are made of. We will go there with the mindset of getting nothing less than the three points, and I believe we have the capability to do that,” he says, adding, “However, we will not underestimate them, we know we will have to work hard, but we are prepared to do what it takes.”

Dolly hastens to empathise with the frustrations of the Amakhosi Faithful, whose unwavering loyalty has been put under strain in recent times as their quest for silverware goes on, insisting, “The only way we can assure them is by winning. Every one of us is desperate to win something for our supporters, and we must go out and show that in the results on the pitch.”

The DStv Premiership encounter takes place at the Mpumalanga Stadium, in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 28 October, kicking off at 15:30.
