Durban’s hosting of the Vodacom Challenge at the Absa stadium on Sunday, has been of great benefit to the VN Naik High school for the Deaf in Newlands West and the Kwamushu-based Pikiswayo Primary.

Vodacom Foundation executive head Monde Mama said that both schools situated in disadvantaged areas, will receive cheques to the value of R20 000 as part of Vodacom’s bid to leave a lasting legacy for the respective communities to mark the hosting of the Vodacom Challenge in Durban.

VN Naik High School for the Deaf will use their funds for the upgrading of their tennis court facilities and for the purchasing of sports equipment, while Pikiswayo Primary will use their Vodacom Foundation money for the running of sports coaching clinics for school kids and other members of the community in the area.

“The Vodacom Foundation are proud to make such a meaningful contribution to the communities of Newland West and Kwamashu through the respective schools, as we strive to leave a lasting legacy for the people, long after the action of the Vodacom Challenge has taken place,” said Mama.
