Coach Muhsin Ertugral was honoured as Castle Premiership Coach of the Month for September on Wednesday and dedicated the prize-money to Takalani Home for Mentally Disabled, one of Amakhosi’s adopted community outreach projects.

Coach Ertugral has been named the Castle Premiership Coach of the Month for September on Wednesday following his side’s unbeaten run in their league campaign to date.

It is for the first time that the Glamour Boys’ mentor scoops the coveted award becoming the first coach from AmaKhosi to take the monthly accolade.

Ertugral's unbeaten run in the Castle Premiership plus the achievement of Chiefs reaching the semi-finals of the African Cup Winners' Cup won him the award ahead of fellow contenders Jomo Sono and Clive Barker.

"The coach is nothing without his players," said Ertugral after eceiving the award. "I would like to thank my boys for a wonderful job."

The coach pledged the R5 000 cheque to the Takalani Home for the Mentally Disabled, one of Amakhosi’s community outreach programmes.

The Coach of the Month is voted by an independent panel of judges consisting of prominent media personalities. The judges look at the team’s performance on the field, the coach’s conduct on and off the field and how he relates to the media and other relevant stakeholders.

The 42-year-old coach, who is in his third season with Chiefs, wins R5 000, a prestigious trophy and Castle Lager supply for the year. Ertugral has made an overhaul in the Chiefs' line-up this season, introducing more youngsters.

The blend of youth and experience has produced positive results leading Chiefs to an unbeaten run in the Castle Premiership so far, despite their commitments in African club competition.

Chiefs beat heavily fancied Egyptian club Ismailia in the quarterfinals of the Cup Winners' Cup and now meet Club African of Tunisia in the semi-finals this Sunday.
