Kaizer Chiefs follow-up to Kick Off
Kaizer Chiefs follow-up to Kick Off

The latest "response" from Kick-Off pertaining to our position with regards to their reporting on club matters is not amusing. While the club feels that it is not necessary to respond, it is, however, important to clarify certain issues.

Kaizer Chiefs uphold the highest professional standards and have taken a leading role in the development of the game.

At no point has Kaizer Chiefs ever expressed interest in having Kick Off as our PR partners. The club has its own communications tools, which have been used effectively to convey official information to our supporters and the public.

We thank Richard Maguire for his reply where he confirms our statements that Kick-Off strives on gossip as per our chairman’s comment.

In fact, while Kick-Off claim that there are two sides to the story, it is hard to believe that they subscribe to this notion.

Otherwise, they would have at least bothered to get an official word from the club, irrespective of whether it kills their stories or not.

But they went ahead and published gossip and now they hide behind the excuse that they cannot reveal their source.

We maintain that such untested claims about the club can only lead to one thing - create unnecessary tension in our technical department and have a negative impact on our relationship with our business partners.

We challenge Kick-Off to come forward with the name of that "high-ranking employee" who leaked the information about Nike.

Kick-Off has a responsibility, and we certainly don't have to remind them of this, to be fair in their reporting and try to balance their stories, not only about Kaizer Chiefs but all PSL clubs.

Therefore we maintain our stance that our supporters should not take Kick-Off magazine seriously should they continue to print unresearch and properly qualified stories.
