Zuma who scored a brace against Chippa in a 2-0 away win for Chiefs in Port Elizabeth on 6 November 2019. His first goal from that match was also the winner of the goal of the month award for November 2019 and now nominated as one of the goals of the season. In the 67th minute of the game, Zuma was played into space by Willard Katsande and he took on two players before sliding the ball between two more outstretched defenders and the goalkeeper, to give Chiefs the lead in a game they eventually won 2-0.
Chiefs other nominee for the goal of the season award is Serbian ace Nurković. He brought Chiefs level against Bloemfontein Celtic in a league game in Durban on 7 December 2019, with a strike in the 21st minute to tie the game at 1-1. He collected a free kick from Manyama inside the Celtic penalty box with his back to goal, he brought the ball under control and turned firing it past Celtic keeper Mondli Mpoto to draw Chiefs level. Chiefs would win the game 5-3 with the Serb scoring a hattrick. The goal was voted as the goal of the month for December 2019.
Rounding off Chiefs’ nominees for the goal of the season award is Lebogang Manyama. He scored the only goal of the game with a well taken effort from distance in the 30th minute of Chiefs 1-0 away league win against Orlando Pirates. The game took place on 29 February at FNB Stadium. That victory was Chiefs’ third of the season in against Pirates in all competitions and also it saw Chiefs complete a league double for the campaign over Pirates.
Voting for the Absa Premiership goal of the season award is currently open on the Premier Soccer League’s website, www.psl.co.za. Voting closes on 15 October.
