“This is a big opportunity and I am ready to give it my all,” enthuses Reeve Frosler after having signed a three years and five months contract with Kaizer Chiefs.

The right-back joins Amakhosi from Bidvest Wits. Frosler moved in 2014 to Bidvest Wits’ youth development structure from Port Elizabeth-based side, Fairview Rovers.

Frosler started out as a central midfielder, but he was moved to the right wing at Wits. Later, when joining the senior squad, the 21-year-old was positioned at right-back. He was part of Wits’ 2016/2017 league championship winning squad.

He’s comfortable with both feet, is pacy and is able to whip excellent crosses into the opponent’s box.

Frosler got one South African national team cap and also played for Amajita.

“Reeve is a wing-back who can play on either the right or the left,” comments Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp. “He is one for the future and an investment for the club.

“Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Kgotso Moleko have done well at right-back and can also give us flexibility at the centre-back position.”

While in camp with the national Under-20s squad a few year ago, Frosler attended the Soweto Derby. “The atmosphere was electrifying,” he comments, “the crowd really gets the players going. It was something magnificent to see.”

About the possibility of taking part in the upcoming Soweto Derby on Saturday, 9 February, the right-back mentions, “When I saw the game then I was a bit scared about the thought of playing in a Soweto Derby. I was, however, still very young at the time.

“I have matured a lot since, and I would like to know now how it feels to play in a game of that magnitude.”

Coming from Port Elizabeth, Frosler closely followed the career from Elrio van Heerden and Daine Klate, who were born in the same city.

“It’s my ambition to win trophies with Kaizer Chiefs,” concludes Frosler, before making a promise to the club’s supporters, “I will do my best in every game selected for. I never want to let them down.”
