Bvuma starts as Chiefs kick off premiership season

After kicking off the season with an MTN8 fixture last Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs will play their first DStv Premiership game of the 2021/22 season with an away fixture against TS Galaxy. The game takes place in  Nelspruit’s Mbombela Stadium.

The two teams last met in June in what was the last game of the 2020/21 season and Chiefs were victorious following a solitary goal by Samir Nurković. The win saw Amakhosi qualify for the top 8 and Galaxy finished their maiden season in the Premiership in ninth position.

For this game, coach Stuart Baxter has shown faith in the team that played against Sundowns last Sunday by only making one change. The change will see Bruce Bvuma start in goal, replacing Itumeleng Khune.

Bvuma is one of five Kaizer Chiefs players who have been called up to represent Bafana Bafana in their next game.

In defence Chiefs will keep Sifiso Hlanti on the left, while Njabulo Blom will once again be on the right. Central defenders will be Daniel Cardoso and Mulomowandau Mathoho.

Cole Alexander and Phathutshedzo Nange will man the midfield. On the wings Chiefs will have  Kgaogelo Sekgota on the right and Khama Billiat, who scored the equaliser against Sundowns last week will play on the left.

The attacking midfielder is last week’s first goal scorer, Bernard Parker.

Nurković who scored against Galaxy in the last meeting will lead the attack for Amakhosi.

This afternoon’s captain is Parker.

The referee in charge of the match is Tshidiso Mkhwanazi. His assistant referees are Sibusiso Sisilana and Thabo Twayise. The match’s fourth official is Thabo Mkhabela.

The first DStv match for Amakhosi and Galaxy will kick off at 17:00 at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.   No spectators will be allowed in the stadium. The game will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC Radio stations, with regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
