Chiefs attacking midfielder Sabelo Radebe proved against Baroka that he is not at the Club to merely make up the numbers, but that he is willing to make every minute on the field of play count.

He demonstrated this when he set up Khama Billiat for the Chiefs’ winner deep into referees’ added time at the end of the game, as Chiefs defeated Baroka 1-0 on Saturday.

‘Bibo’, who appeared as a late substitute in the win, was upbeat after his match-winning assist.

”The chance finally came, so I had to show up. I have been waiting for the chance to play and this will help me keep my attitude positive,” Radebe said after the game.

Despite not featuring regularly, his positivity in making his time with the Chiefs first team count has been standing him in good stead.

“I have a great attitude – that’s why I made an impact. I just keep on motivating myself to keep going,” Radebe added with no shortage of confidence.

It was that confidence that came to the fore, when with the clock winding down against Baroka Radebe looked calm and composed as he swung in the ball from the right, and Billiat latched on to it to force home the winner at the death.

“I knew I had control of the ball I and got there before the defender. I was close to the goals and I saw something coming. The guys made good movement, which opened up the chance for us,” he says of his role in the build up to the pivotal goal.

For Radebe, the three points on offer were vital for Chiefs and with a big Soweto Derby game next up, he assures supporters there will be no let up from him and his teammates.

“I am proud of myself and the team and thankful to the coach for this opportunity.  We need to keep on winning. We need to pull up our socks and keep on aiming for more points,” concluded Radebe.
