Chiefs draw Zesco in CAF

Kaizer Chiefs were drawn against Zambia’s Zesco United FC. The winner of this two-legged clash will earn a spot at the Group Stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The draw of the second 1/16th round of the Total CAF Confederation Cup 2018/19 took place on Friday, 28 December 2018 at the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo, Egypt.

Kaizer Chiefs entered the draw at the backdrop of wins in the preliminary beating Zanzibar’s Zimamoto 5-1. In the first Round Amakhosi thumbed Madagascar’s Elgeco Plus 6-0.

The other possible opponents for Amakhosi placed in pot D were in pot A included El Hilal (SUD), Coton Sport FC (CMR), Gor Mahia (KEN), Stade Malien (MLI) Ahli Benghazi (LIB) and Nkana FC (ZAM).

Zesco dropped from the Champions league at hands of TP Mazembe with 2-1 aggregate score line.

The 1st Leg will be played during the weekend of 11/12/13 January 2019.  The 2nd Leg will follow on the weekend of 18/19/20 January.
