This evening’s crunch match will be the decider of who goes through to the quarterfinals of this season’s competition in Group C. Chiefs need at least a draw with goals in today’s game to advance, while the hosts, Horoya need nothing less than a win to go through.
Chiefs received two dubious red cards when Daniel Akpeyi and Samir Nurković were sent off last Saturday in the penultimate Group C match against Wydad, so they will not take part in today’s match. Another blow for Chiefs is that of the injury of Tuesday’s goal scorer, Leonardo Castro, who fractured his nose as he scored Amakhosi’s equaliser against Stellenbosch FC.
The positive note is that Njabulo Blom will return to bolster the midfield after missing Tuesday’s league game against Stellenbosch due to suspension.
There is a total of three changes in the team with Itumeleng Khune replacing Akpeyi, Blom coming on for Willard Katsande and Nurković making way for Khama Billiat.
The experienced Itumeleng Khune will be in goal.
The defence remains unchanged with Daniel Cardoso on the left, Mathoho in the middle and Siyabonga Ngezana on the right.
Blom will work with Bernard Parker in the middle of the park. On the wings Chiefs will have Reeve Frosler on the right and Happy Mashiane on the left of Amakhosi’s midfield.
Attacking midfielders are Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Lebogang Manyama.
Billiat will lead the attack.
The match referee is Bakary Papa Gassama. His assistants are Abdul Aziz Bollel Jawo and Omar Darboe. The fourth officlal is Omar Sallah. The quartet is from Gambia.
The match commissioner is Isaac T Z Montgomery from Liberia.
This important match will kick off at 19:00 (21:00 in SA) at the General Lansana Stadium in the capital of Guinea, Conakry. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium. The game will be live on on the Kaizer Chiefs Facebook page. There will be regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
