Chiefs make two changes in their line-up for Derby

Three points, pride and bragging rights are all at stake this afternoon as the two giants of Soweto, the mighty Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates lock horns for the 172nd official Soweto Derby at Orlando Stadium.

Both teams come into this DStv Premiership match at the back of drawn matches on Tuesday.

When the two teams met in the league last season, Amakhosi won both matches.

Coach Gavin Hunt who will be in charge of his first league derby match, has made two changes to the team that played against Baroka on Tuesday. He has brought Njabulo Blom and Kearyn Baccus in for Mulomowandau Mathoho and Happy Mashine.

Daniel Akpayi retains his position and will try to keep a clean sheet today.

Defenders will be Philani Zulu on the left, Siyabonga Ngezana and Anthony Akumu Agay at the centre, while Reeve Frosler will be at right-back.

Amakhosi’s midfielders are Daniel Cardoso and Njabulo Blom. They will work with Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Kearyn Baccus on the wings.

Amakhosi will attack with Lebogang Manyama and Samir Nurković.

Nurković will continue to wear the captain’s armband in Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s absence.

Referee Luxolo Badi has been given the mammoth task of officiating South Africa’s biggest football match. He will work with assistants Emmanuel de Sani and Elphas Sitole.  Nhlakanipho Thwala is the fourth official once again after being in the same role on Tuesday for the Amakhosi vs Baroka match.

The DStv Premiership Soweto Derby between The Phefeni Glamour Boys and the Sea Robbers will kick off at 15:30 at Orlando Stadium in Soweto. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium. The game will be live on SuperSport Channel 202, SABC 1 and various SABC radio stations, with regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
