Kaizer Chiefs reserve team will come up against DStv Diski Challenge log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, in a festival of football at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg tomorrow.

Coach Vela Khumalo’s KC reserve team will face Sundowns at 12h30pm on Sunday in a game which will be televised live on DStv Channel 201.

Buoyed by a 1-0 win over TS Galaxy last time out, Chiefs will be looking to make it back-to-back wins when they meet Sundowns.

Chiefs’ win against TS Galaxy saw them end a three-game winless run, and they are upbeat ahead of the Sundowns game, despite the team’s preparations being disrupted with a number of players unavailable due to them being busy with school examinations.

Coach Khumalo has been dealing with the challenges in his team’s preparations and knows they will face a stern test of character against a Sundowns team undefeated in their last six games in the competition.

Sundowns have won their last four games in succession and come into this match on the back of a 4-0 win over Sekhukhune in their last game.

Last season the corresponding fixture between the sides saw Chiefs run out 4-1 winners, with Kamohelo Hoala scoring a hattrick. A repeat result will see Chiefs, who are currently in sixth place, go to within three points of the log leaders with a win and the Chiefs reserves will be looking to return from the North West with all three points, ahead of their next fixture against Baroka.
